Experiments in Trajectory, 2025
RESEARCH ART LAB - Power House, Orford Ness Nature Reserve, Suffolk, UK
In May 2025, I was invited to be artist in resident at the Power House on Orford Ness, Suffolk. The National Trust site is an important coastal nature reserve with a dramatic 20th century Ministry of Defense history.
Experiments in Trajectory is a series of drawings and photographs that responded directly to this unique landscape. The work took particular inspiration from heritage archives and from the wind and light, which are an integral part of the wild landscape here. Using chance and autonomous tracing and tracking as part of the working process, I created physical/ active drawings and pinhole photographs that closely corresponded to the original MOD plotting of the North/ South and West/ East bomb ballistic trajectory paths and their points of impact.
RESEARCH ART LAB was organised by Blast Radius in collaboration with the University of Suffolk and the National Trust.
