Ice Plant and Cut Glass, 1996

The Ice Plant is part of a series of buildings owned by The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. Whilst on internship at the Foundation, Sara created a series of interventions in outbuildings located in the desert landscape. The Ice Plant was part of a disused ice factory set close to the single railway line that passed through the town. Hundreds of holes pierced the tin building creating a kaleidoscope of sun spots and light beams.

Cut Glass was a temporary installation in a disused army barracks. Using found objects, the work placed glass  fragments on the floor and responded to the shifting harsh Texan sunlight.
